NOTE:
Early Intervention Services are available free of charge to children age birth to three years who meet established criteria. These services are typically provided by local agencies that are contracted by the local county department of health. Call your local county Department of Health for information about arranging for an evaluation. The number to call for Westchester County Department of Health’s early intervention program is (914) 813-5094. Their website has helpful information: http://co.westchester.ny.us/health/ChildrenWithSpecialNeeds.htm

Services for children ages three to five are available at no cost to parents through their local school district. Call the administrative office of your school district and ask to speak with the person in charge of the CPSE, or Committee on Preschool Special Education. The CPSE chairperson will guide you through an evaluation process, after which the committee will determine your child’s eligibility for special education services.
